A theories → Alison has a twin
This theory isn’t very strong and kind of all over the place. I know the show isn’t going to follow the books but in the Halloween special it because kind of apparent that Alison could have a twin. I don’t know if Alison is dead or Alison is A but either way I think a twin comes into the matter somehow.
1x1 Pilot: Spencer receives her first A message and upon doing so, she looks to the DiLaurentis house. Although Maya St. Germain and her family are supposedly living there, she sees a blonde figure in the window, much like Alison. We don’t know if this was a figure of her imagination and it hasn’t been brought up since, but this was the day the body was found.
2x11 I Must Confess: This episode is when the girls finally open up about A to Doctor Sullivan. She is checking her files and works out who A actually is. We knew A was a patient of Doctor Sullivan’s who was either born or began treatment in 1994. However, after looking at Spencer’s file it’s clear the birth year is 1994, which leaves the case open that A is someone the same age as Alison and the liars, meaning it could be her twin, or her. The overpowering feelings of revenge and needs for anger management could reflect the story told in The First Secret, or even a reason we haven’t heard of Alison’s twin.
2x13 The First Secret: The story told at the start of the episode has been speculated as though this is what happened to Alison or her twin. Although I don’t think what’s told in the story, Alison may have wanted something like this to happen, or her twin. This is also when the first A message is received, but I don’t think the A in The First Secret is the A we hear from now.
As Alison is sat writing in her diary, she is interrupted by her brother Jason. This is the first time we have seen Alison’s bedroom while she was living in the house and clues in her room suggest she has a twin sister. On the right hand side of her bed is a photo frame and a plaque. In the photo frame, there is a picture of Alison and Jason and then another of Alison. This seemed perfectly normal at first until the plaque is read. The plaque translates to a quote including “You are blessed with twins”.
